ReXboxed.

April 30th, 2007 - Buy Xbox 360 Elite for $479.99 (full price)

April 13th, 2008 - Xbox 360 Ellite "Red Rings". Repair is covered by Microsoft. Receive Replacement refurb a little over 2 weeks later

March 15th, 2009 Xbox 360 Ellite (refurb) suffers a fatal E 74 error. Microsoft says its out of warranty and I must pay 99 dollars (Just to clarify.. its 99 dollars via the web 119 via the phone.. I guess there is a 20 dollar "Talk to someone charge")

I don't think I'm being some kind of scammer expecting an Xbox to last more than one year. Keep in mind that if I pay the 99 dollars to get my xbox repaired it would then be covered by A ONE YEAR WARRANTY. So why wasn't the original refurb? Because it was a free repair?

I would call, get an operator who knows what he's doing (possibly ask for a tier two operator/supervisor if you don't feel as though you're not getting satisfaction), and talk them into refurbing it for free. It can be done, you just have to be disappointed enough--but stay away from becoming outright enraged.
