The Mental midget.

Does anyone watch the Mentalist that can tell me what the heck is going on? frogdiva and I tried to watch about 10 minutes of it, and after Jane was building some EPIC Sandcastle on the beach we both wondered WTF was going on and turned it off. It does not seem to be a show worthy of all the praise it seems to be getting considering a great show like Eli Stone was cancelled and Boston Legal has aired its Series Finale. Where is the *good* TV I'm missing?

I've taken notice of how you handle criticism regarding television. It's the dramas that you tend to voice your opinion and dislike, but the comedies you tend to just laugh and overlook anything that doesn't quite add up.

Do you concur?

Well, its hard to criticize the dramatic quality of comedy. So, yes I would agree. I think good Drama should reflect the world we live in, and good comedy should make us forget it. So if My Name is Earl does something preposterous, it seems just as preposterous to criticize how impossible it is. At the same time I want CSI to use real methods and techniques, not pull them out of their behinds for dramatic effect. I will happily grant that it would take six weeks for the results of most of those tests and they do have only an hour to tell a show, but when they whip out the Criminal Carpet Database, I get pissed off.

I like "Life On Mars," "House," "Bones," "Torchwood," "Doctor Who," "Jon & Kate Plus Eight," and "General Hospital" lately.

I already watch House, Torchwood, and Doctor Who. I need to check out Life on Mars, but I'm waiting for it to run a full season first. I don't expect I'd get much from Jon & Kate Plus Eight, or General Hospital. Frogdiva likes Bones, so that might work.. But the guy on that show kind of annoys me.

Which guy, the one from Angel?

Check out NCIS. That's a good one too.

How about "Chuck"? The comedy makes the wild unreality easier to handle, it's geek-friendly, has adventure and a fun soundtrack.

I'm joining in your general disappointment though. I just started to like "Pushing Daisies" and it got cancelled. Feh.

Chuck saves itself from being terrible with the great acting. If it tried to be serious it would completely stink. But I do enjoy it very much.
