Its a.. TV

I have a new member to add to the family. Its the Samsung LN40A650. Best Buy is currently offering 3 years same as cash on all TVs, so I couldn't resist. Its also a little bit of an early Birthday present to myself. I wanted to get the 46 inch, but THEN I'd have to get a new apartment to fit it in!

We just bought several of the 32" versions of this for our editing suites. They look terrific. Good work.

What settings do the pro's use? I've been fiddling but haven't really decided on anything yet.

I may be getting one of these myself soon.
Off the top of my head I cannot remember. We chose the aspect ratio that best fit the image on the screen (the more info the better, no cropping or stretching). I believe that between the "theater" and "default" color settings were the truest.

here's what I always recommend in this situation. Take a movie you have seen waaayyyyy too many times. Put it in and make the movie look the way it should. This is a standard for sound guys and video guys. Sound guys take a piece of music that they know frontwards and backwards and make a sound system play music the way it was supposed to sound. I do the same with video. I put in SW EP:IV and make sure the colors are correct because I know what colors they should be.

My co-workers are very excited to be able to show their HD work on these monitors. I am excited because I can show how crappy SD work can look on an HD monitor.
