Couldn't you have just told the Stargate Universe Pilot story in Chronological order so my girlfriend who has never watched any Stargate before would have some clue as to what the fuck is going on?  Trying to get her to watch the pilot was hard enough without having her say "i'm confused" within the first 10 minutes!  Way to pick up new viewers.
